Brutal Bottle Attack in Nuneaton Leads to Jail for Two Teens
Macauley Colledge, 22, and Niall Carnworth, 20, launched a savage attack on a teenager in Kingswood Road, Nuneaton last March. Warwick Crown Court heard how Carnworth punched the victim to the floor before raining down blows, while Colledge smashed a bottle into the young man’s face.
Social Media Snags Attackers
The horrifying attack was caught on video and shared on social media, helping police quickly identify the pair. Both men pleaded guilty to attempted grievous bodily harm with intent.
Heavy Sentences for Brutish Assault
- Colledge, formerly of Swannest Grove, Nuneaton, was sentenced to two years in prison. This will run concurrently with a sentence he is already serving.
- Carnworth, from Hardy Close, Nuneaton, received a two-year sentence suspended for two years.
“Colledge and Carnworth intended to cause serious damage to their victim and they succeeded,” said Detective Constable Dean Clark from Nuneaton CID. “This was a vicious and sustained attack that left a young man with serious facial injuries; they should be thankful it wasn’t worse.”
