Nottingham Fraud Crackdown: Two Arrested in Ponzi Scheme Sting

Police Hit Back at ‘Get Rich Quick’ Scam

Nottinghamshire Police were swamped with calls last week about a suspected Ponzi fraud flogging fake investment opportunities.

Ponzi schemes promise quick cash but end in disaster. Scammers lure victims into coughing up big money, then vanish with the loot.

Two Arrested Amid Ongoing Probe

On Friday 24 March, cops arrested a 30-year-old woman on suspicion of fraud by false representation, plus a 58-year-old man for possessing tools to commit fraud. Both hail from Nottingham and have been bailed while investigations ramp up.

Police Urge Victims to Speak Out

“We’ve launched an inquiry into a nationwide Ponzi scheme with multiple victims losing cash,” said Detective Inspector Ashley Xavier of Nottinghamshire Police. “Our Fraud Team is on the case. Anyone scammed should ring 101 or Action Fraud at 0300 123 2040 immediately.”
