Kent Police Bust Trio in Stolen Car Sting Near New Romney
Three Arrested, Two Stolen Cars Seized
Kent Police swooped on a property along the A259 near New Romney on the morning of Thursday, 30 April 2020. Officers arrested three suspects and impounded two cars believed to be stolen.
Steven Taylor Faces Multiple Theft Charges
Steven Taylor, 33, from Manton Road, Plumstead, south-east London, is charged with a string of theft offences. These include stealing a car in London between 6–7 April 2020, and stealing car registration plates in East Sussex on the same dates.
In addition, Taylor faces charges for stealing a bicycle in Essex on 8 March 2020, as well as shoplifting £170 worth of food from a New Romney store on 10 April 2020.
Valerie Purcell Also in the Dock
Valerie Purcell, also 33 and from the same Plumstead address, has been charged with two counts of shoplifting from supermarkets in Ashford, on 13 January and 10 April 2020.
Both Taylor and Purcell are set to appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on 3 June.
Third Woman Released Under Investigation
A 37-year-old woman from New Romney was also arrested but has since been released under investigation as enquiries continue.
