Portsmouth Firefighters Smash £5k Mark After Gruelling 13-Mile Ladder Walk

Portsmouth’s bravest have gone above and beyond, raising nearly £5,000 for charity by hauling a giant 10.5-metre ladder over 13 miles – all in full firefighting kit!

Herculean Trek for a Great Cause

Yesterday, 30 determined firefighters set off from Horndean at 10am, embarking on the tough challenge to Gunwharf Quays. Battling the elements and the weight of their gear, the team powered through the 13-mile hike to support two vital causes: Football For Cancer (FFC) and The Fire Fighters Charity.

Local Support Boosts Their Efforts

Along the route, locals cheered on the firefighters, who were met with warm welcomes and donations. Bucket collections raised an impressive £2,394, which Barclays UK generously matched, soaring the total to a smashing £4,788 – just shy of the £5k target.

Firefighters’ Stamina Shines Bright

The feat is a testament to the firefighters’ grit and dedication, showing they’re not just heroes in emergencies but champions in the community too.
