Two Men Arrested Over £60,000 Roof Repair Scam Targeting Elderly Couple

Police swooped after a bank flagged a suspicious attempt to withdraw a large sum of money by a couple in their 70s. The shocking scam involved dodgy roof repairs that left the victims facing demands for nearly £60,000.

Fraud Allegations Rock Essex

The elderly pair were allegedly duped into unnecessary work on their home. As the shoddy repairs got underway, the con artists ramped up their cash demands, bilking the couple for tens of thousands.

Rapid Police Action and Arrests

Officers struck quickly on the morning of 21 December near Princes Road. Two men from Essex, aged 39 and 47, were arrested on suspicion of fraud offences. Both have been released on bail until March 2023 while investigations continue.
