Two Extremists to Be Sentenced for Running Daesh Propaganda Website

Counter Terrorism Police have slammed down the hammer on two men behind a hardcore Islamist propaganda site supporting Daesh. Mohammed Abdul Ahad, 38, from north London, and Muhammad Abdur Raheem Kamali, 31, from Rochdale, Manchester, are set for sentencing on Friday, 7th January, after their 2019 convictions.

How the Terror Website Was Taken Down

The Met’s Counter Terrorism Command (CTC), alongside North-East and North-West Counter Terrorism units, joined forces to bust the pair. Ahad and Kamali ran the extremist site, recording, transcribing, and uploading speeches praising terror groups including Al-Qaeda and Daesh. These blasts encouraged violent acts and terror support.

Police Crackdown and Arrests

  • Investigation began in 2016 after a 20-year-old woman was caught sharing terror docs from the site, convicted in 2017.
  • Ahad and Kamali were revealed as the site’s administrators during the probe.
  • Both men arrested simultaneously during a coordinated swoop on 1 March 2017.
  • Searches at their homes seized digital devices proving their roles.
  • Ahad later arrested for possession of a terror magazine featuring AK47 assembly instructions.
  • Charged in mid-2018 with multiple counts under the Terrorism Acts.

Convictions and Awaiting Sentence

In December 2019, Ahad was found guilty on all charges. Kamali was convicted on four counts of disseminating terrorist material, though the jury deadlocked on three others. Both now face sentencing, as police urge the public to stay alert and report suspicious activity.

“Remain vigilant and report anything suspicious,” warned Counter Terrorism Police.
