US Construction Worker Busted with 20 Kilos of Cannabis at UK Airport
National Crime Agency (NCA) officers cracked down on Pennsylvania-born construction worker Massa Momolu Talery, 32, after stopping him at Terminal 3 on 4th February. Talery claimed he was just on a two-week holiday. But they found 20 kilos of herbal cannabis hidden in his luggage.
Hefty Jail Time for Cannabis Smuggler
The haul was worth a fortune on the streets, and a Crown Court judge hit Talery with an eight-month jail sentence. The court wasted no time in sending a clear message to drug couriers trying their luck at UK borders.
Police Warn: Crime Gangs Use Couriers Like Talery
Local 123 Branch Commander Andy Noyes revealed: “Organised crime gangs need couriers like Talery and Jean-Leger to bring their illicit substances into the UK.” He added:
“Couriers are often recruited with promises of payment or free holidays. But in reality, these attempts just end in jail sentences. I’d urge anyone considering smuggling cannabis into the UK, whether from the US or elsewhere, to think twice. It isn’t worth the risk.”
He also praised the partnership between the NCA and Border Force, saying they are on high alert to disrupt drug gangs targeting the UK.
US Nationals Face Growing Crackdown at UK Airports
Since January 2023, over 25 US nationals have been arrested at UK airports for drug smuggling. Eight have already been convicted and sentenced to prison.
The warning is clear. Don’t gamble with the law by sneaking drugs into Britain. The consequences can be swift and severe.
