Abuser Jailed After Years of Torment
TJ Bunn, 32, has been locked up for nearly five years following a brave woman’s stand against years of horrific domestic abuse. Leeds Crown Court sentenced him to four years and 11 months last Friday (5/12) after he pleaded guilty to harassment causing fear of violence, two counts of intentional strangulation, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The abuses stretched over a terrifying three-year relationship. The victim finally came forward after Bunn was imprisoned for unrelated crimes.
‘Dangerous Offender’ Slapped with Indefinite Restraining Order
Bunn was dragged from prison to face new charges in May and pleaded guilty in October. The judge branded him “dangerous” and imposed an indefinite restraining order, banning any contact with his victim.
Police Praise Victim’s Courage
“The victim showed great strength and bravery to report Bunn’s offending,” said Detective Sergeant Rebecca Westerman.
“I hope the sentence he has received today will be of some comfort to her and give her some closure.”
“I also hope it will encourage other victims of controlling and coercive behaviour to come forward so offenders can be brought to justice.”
This case shines a powerful spotlight on the importance of speaking out. Thanks to one woman’s courage, a dangerous abuser is off the streets for good.
