Havant Woman Slapped with Criminal Behaviour Order Over Noise Nightmare
Lisa Horstead, 40, from Athena Avenue, Waterlooville, has been hit with a strict three-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) after repeatedly blasting loud music that drove her neighbours mad. Portsmouth Magistrates Court handed down the punishment on February 14, 2017.
Noise Nuisance Finally Shut Down
The Havant Borough Council’s Environmental Health Team have been battling the noise saga for eight months. Their efforts were key in securing Horstead’s conviction and fighting back against her anti-social antics.
The CBO now legally stops Horstead from playing any amplified or loud music that can be heard outside her home. The order applies to anyone visiting her property too, spelling serious trouble for anyone who breaks the rules — penalties include up to five years in jail.
Neighbours Urged to Report Repeat Offenders
“This case has been a big success for our Environmental Health team and the conviction is a direct result of its hard work and persistence,” said Councillor Tony Briggs, Portfolio Holder for Environment Health.
He added: “We want to reassure residents that if you’re struggling with similar noise problems, don’t suffer in silence. Get in touch immediately.”
