A 41-year-old man from West Hallam has been locked up for almost five years after targeting three young girls online, sending explicit messages and coaxing them into sexual activity.
Richard Jackson’s Sick Snapchat Messages Exposed
Richard Jackson, of Caversham Way, used Snapchat between 2020 and 2022 to groom his victims. He sent graphic messages, including to a 14-year-old girl, telling her he was “willing to wait.”
The vile behaviour was uncovered in May 2021 when one victim’s parents found the offensive messages on her device and alerted Derbyshire Police. Jackson was swiftly arrested.
18 Charges Led to Jail Sentence
In March 2023, Jackson faced 18 charges, which he admitted. These included:
- Three counts of sexual communication with a child
- Three counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity
- 11 counts of possessing indecent images of a child
- One count of causing a child to look at an image of sexual activity
On 4 August, Derby Crown Court sentenced him to four years and nine months behind bars.
Police Warn Parents to Stay Vigilant
“Jackson’s actions caused significant harm to his victims,” said a Derbyshire Police spokesperson. “We hope this sentence sends a clear message: grooming and exploitation of children will not be tolerated. We act swiftly to bring offenders to justice.”
Police urge parents and guardians to regularly check children’s online activity and report any suspicious behaviour immediately.
