Brighton Cop Sacked for Sexist Behaviour Towards Female Colleagues
PC Lochlan Bashford, 23, from Brighton Police Station, has been kicked out after a disciplinary panel found him guilty of inappropriate conduct towards women at work. The hearing, held at 1 headquarters, was overseen by an Independent Legally Qualified Chair to ensure fairness and transparency.
Three-Day Hearing Uncovers Sexualised Misconduct
Over three days starting November 13, evidence revealed Bashford repeatedly made lewd comments and behaved inappropriately with female colleagues—both on and off duty. During the probe, he was placed on restricted duties.
Dismissed Without Notice and Barred for Life
The disciplinary panel ruled Bashford’s actions breached standards of Authority, Respect, Courtesy, and Discreditable Conduct, amounting to gross misconduct. He was sacked immediately and added to the College of Policing Barred List, banning him from returning to the force.
Force Vows Zero Tolerance on Misconduct
“The actions of this officer fell far short of the standards we expect,” said Detective Superintendent Jon Robeson, deputy head of Professional Standards.
Robeson stressed the force is committed to rooting out bad behaviour and fostering a culture where staff can safely report misconduct. All claims, especially sexual misconduct, are rigorously investigated under Police Conduct Regulations to protect a workplace free from misogyny and harassment.
