Violent Robbery Shakes Gillingham Shop

Kent police are hunting witnesses after a scary robbery on Canterbury Street in Gillingham. The crime happened on Friday, February 2, 2024, around 6:30 pm.

Suspect Threatens, Assaults Staff During Raid

A man stormed into the shop demanding cash and threatening workers. The situation quickly turned violent as he assaulted staff before making a quick getaway.

Suspect Caught and Charged After Swift Police Action

Officers later arrested Tommy Presley, 30, from Coopers Road, Gravesend, linked to the robbery. He faces charges of robbery and assault by beating. Presley is now in custody and set to appear at maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone Crown Court on March 4.

Police Appeal for Witnesses to Come Forward

Detective Constable Scott Bittlestone of Medway CID said:

“We believe several customers were in the shop during the robbery. We haven’t traced them yet but they could hold vital information. We urge anyone who was there to get in touch.”
