Wolverhampton Man Locked Up for 24 Years After Running Over Victim Twice

A brutal street attack in Wolverhampton has ended with a violent driver behind bars for 24 years. Melvin Winters showed no mercy when he ran over a man not once, but twice — while his girlfriend shamelessly snatched a gold chain from the injured victim.

Horrific Attack on Pope Road Leaves Man Fighting for Life

West Midlands Police revealed the grisly details of the incident on Pope Road, The Scotlands, which happened last July 2. At about 2.20pm, officers arrived to find a 42-year-old man seriously injured.

Paramedics treated him at the scene for severe leg, rib, and shoulder wounds before rushing him to hospital.

CCTV Captures Shocking Crime Spree by Couple

Police investigations uncovered a chilling sequence captured on CCTV. Winters, 46, and his girlfriend Josie James, 32, had confronted the victim after an argument. The footage showed Winters macing the man down with his black Vauxhall Insignia, then chillingly circling back to crush him again while he lay injured on the street.

As the victim bled, James coldly stepped out and swiped his gold chain before the pair sped off. Police later found the abandoned car nearby in Masefield Mews under an hour after the attack.

Justice Served as Couple Convicted for Attempted Murder and Robbery

Both criminals were arrested separately on July 5. Winters denied the attempted murder charge. Both he and James also denied robbery. But the Wolverhampton Crown Court jury wasn’t fooled.

In December, the couple was found guilty, sealing Winters’ fate with a hefty 24-year sentence behind bars, finally bringing justice for the brutal attack on Pope Road.
