Woman charged with husband’s murder in Brighton flat horror

Emergency crews respond to fatal Brighton incident

A 70-year-old woman has been charged with the murder of her husband at their flat in Lavender Street, Brighton.

Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after 7:30pm on Monday, 27 May. Despite paramedics’ efforts, the victim, 70-year-old Andrew Rowland-Stuart, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police arrest and charge wife

Joanna Rowland-Stuart, also 70, was arrested at the property and has now been charged with murder. She will appear before Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 31 May and remains in custody.

Investigation ongoing as detectives seek information

Detective Chief Inspector Alex Campbell, from Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team, said: “This is a fast-moving investigation. We continue to piece together the full circumstances that led to Andrew’s tragic death.

“Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this difficult time.”

He urged the public not to speculate and asked anyone with information to come forward. Reports can be made online via the Major Incident Public Portal.
