Crash Blocks Road, Bus Routes Disrupted
Fire crews and paramedics were called to the scene. The crash caused road closures in both directions at the Wolfe Crescent junction. Transport for London (TFL) confirmed that bus route 340 has been diverted due to the closure.
Suspects Arrested After Stolen Car Chase
A Met Police spokesman revealed the chase began at 12:51pm when officers tried to stop a stolen car in Woolwich. The driver ignored police commands, sparking a pursuit.
“A short time later, at 12:56pm, the car was involved in a collision at the junction of Wolfe Crescent and Thorntree Road. Three men inside the vehicle were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle,” the spokesman said.
Two of the suspects were taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening before being discharged to custody. The road remained closed until around 2:20pm while the scene was cleared.
