Missing Woman’s Remains Found After Year-Long Search

The remains of Norma Girolami have been officially identified, police confirmed. Her devastated family has been informed.

Norma Disappeared Without a Trace in August 2021

Norma, who lived in Highgate, London, was last seen in mid-August 2021. A murder probe kicked off in October after months of police enquiries.

Known to travel regularly to Brent Cross for shopping and often using public transport, Norma was also a member of Archway Leisure Centre. On Thursday 19 August 2021, she took a trip to Leigh-on-Sea, travelling by train from Barking and returning to London that same day. Following that, all contact from Norma abruptly stopped.

Detective Appeals for Information to Crack Case

“Despite accepting that Norma was no longer alive, I know her family are deeply affected by the news that her remains have been found. Our thoughts are very much with them,” said Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn.

“My team has spent over a year searching for Norma. We are relieved to have found her remains, which will now undergo forensic tests. However, we need the public’s help to piece together what happened.”

Detectives are urging anyone who knew Norma in London or Leigh-on-Sea during August 2021 to come forward. They’re also interested in any sightings or unusual activity near the Churchyard on Firern Barnet Lane, N20, between August and October last year.

“Norma’s family and friends have endured a year of painful uncertainty. Our investigation continues, and any information—no matter how small—could be crucial,” Blackburn added.
