Woman Jailed for Sex Assault on Sleeping Teen at House Party
A 15-year-old boy was sexually assaulted while asleep in a tent at a house party – and the courts have slammed the door on the attacker’s appeal. Justice was firmly served as Cynthia Frahn’s conviction stood firm.
Cynthia Frahn Found Guilty of Assaulting Teen in Tent
Cynthia Frahn, 53, was found guilty in June 2023 of sexually assaulting the unconscious boy at her home in Monarto, near Adelaide, Australia. The teenager had passed out during the party and woke to find Frahn performing a sexual act on him.
The jury convicted Frahn, who was later sentenced to four years in prison, with a minimum of two and a half years before parole eligibility.
Frahn’s Appeal Rejected Despite DNA Evidence Claims
Frahn fought to overturn her conviction, claiming there was a miscarriage of justice over the DNA evidence presented at trial. Her defence claimed the judge was misled by “the prosecutor’s fallacy” and argued the DNA could have transferred innocently.
But the appeal judges reviewed the evidence and dismissed all challenges, rejecting Frahn’s bid to escape jail.
Judges Back Original Verdict, Defence Shot Down
“The DNA was not the only evidence,” the judges declared. They confirmed the teenager “was not willing and did not acquiesce” to Frahn’s assault.
Frahn remains behind bars as the court upholds the original guilty verdict in full.
