Quick Arrest After Whitehall Protest
Two South London women have been charged following a Whitehall protest linked to terrorism. Heba Alhayek and Pauline Ankunda were arrested after a public tip-off. The pair face charges for carrying or displaying an item that raised suspicion of supporting the banned group Hamas during a protest on Saturday, 14 October.
Met’s Counter Terror Chief Speaks Out
Commander Dominic Murphy, head of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command, stressed the need to act fast. “Swift investigations and bringing offenders to justice is vital,” he said. The women were arrested on 30 October and later charged on 3 November with the Crown Prosecution Service’s backing.
Ongoing Hunt for Third Suspect and Man at Bond Street Protest
The police are still searching for a third woman seen at the Whitehall protest. In addition, they want to identify a man spotted waving a Hamas placard at a separate Bond Street protest on 21 October.
