Teen Terror Arrest Rocks Gatwick Airport
A 17-year-old has been slammed with a terrorism probe after being nabbed by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command. The teenager was stopped at London Gatwick Airport on June 2 under tough Schedule 7 powers when returning to the UK.
Mobile Phone Search Leads to Shocking Arrest
Police examined the teen’s mobile phone under the Terrorism Act 2000. The search uncovered alarming material, leading to his arrest on suspicion of distributing terrorist content—an offence under the Terrorism Act 2006.
Met Commander Sounds Alarm on Teen Terror Trend
Commander Dominic Murphy of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command stressed the vital role of cross-agency teamwork to secure UK borders. “Schedule 7 powers are key weapons in stopping terror threats before they land,” he said.
Murphy also warned of a worrying rise in teenagers linked to terror offences. He urged parents, carers, and friends to stay alert and report any radicalisation signs immediately. “Early action can prevent young people being drawn down a dark path,” he warned.
