Extinction Rebellion Chaos: Over 800 Arrests as London Protests Rage On

831 Arrests and Counting

By 10am on Sunday, April 21, police had arrested a staggering 831 people linked to the ongoing Extinction Rebellion protests that erupted earlier this week on Monday, April 15. So far, 42 protestors have been formally charged.

Glues and Gridlocks Cleared

Dramatic scenes unfolded as demonstrators glued themselves to a lorry roof on Waterloo Bridge, blocking the route. Thankfully, emergency crews safely removed the activists, and the lorry was cleared from the area by 5:18pm on Sunday, freeing up traffic.

Key London Hubs Reopen but Disruption Continues

Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus have finally reopened, ending protest restrictions in those spots. However, conditions remain in place at 1 Bridge and Parliament Square. Police are pushing hard to reopen these hotspots and restore normal London life ASAP.

Authorities Demand Peaceful Protests

Officers are keeping close contact with Extinction Rebellion organisers, aiming to stop the serious disruption that’s held London to ransom. The call is clear — only lawful, peaceful protests will be tolerated.
