Fatal Crash Near Wakefield: Police Seek Witnesses
Police are urgently hunting witnesses after a tragic road crash near Wakefield claimed the life of a 93-year-old woman, nearly five weeks after the accident.
The Crash on Netherton Lane
The crash happened at 12:10pm on Tuesday, 24 February, near the junction of Netherton Lane and Netherton Hall Drive. A red Hyundai i10 carrying an elderly passenger collided with a parked white Ford Transit camper van.
The Hyundai was travelling from Horbury Bridge when it struck the stationary camper van. The driver, aged 88, walked away without injury.
Minor Injuries Turn Deadly
At first, the woman’s injuries appeared minor. But her condition deteriorated in hospital, and she tragically passed away in hospice care on Saturday, 28 March.
Police Appeal for Crucial Information
West Yorkshire Police’s Major Collision Enquiry Team is leading the probe. Officers are calling on anyone who witnessed the crash or noticed anything suspicious around that time to step forward.
