Fire breaks out in Leytonstone flat

A disabled man has died after a flat fire ripped through a property on Cheneys Road, Leytonstone, East London. Firefighters found the man wearing breathing apparatus but sadly he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rapid response from fire crews

The London Fire Brigade were called just after midnight on Monday. Four fire crews and officers from Leytonstone and three other stations swiftly attended the emergency.

Cause of blaze remains unknown

Part of the flat was damaged by the fire. The cause is now under investigation, with a joint probe launched by the Metropolitan Police and London Fire Brigade. Both agencies have been approached for comment.
