High Street Brawl: Four Arrested After Early Morning Assault

Chaos erupted in Canterbury’s High Street at 4am on Sunday, 23 May 2021. A group of friends strolling along Mercery Lane were confronted by another gang who launched a verbal attack.

Verbal Abuse Turns Violent

The verbal abuse didn’t stop. It escalated near the junction with St Margaret’s Street where two men were assaulted. Both suffered facial injuries and were rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

Police Make Swift Arrests

By the time officers arrived, the suspects had fled. But swift police work led them to a property on Highlanders Avenue. Three men, aged 22, 21, and 19, from Canterbury, and a 25-year-old woman from Whitstable were arrested. All remain in custody as detectives probe the full story.
