Tragedy struck Chilwell yesterday as an 88-year-old woman lost her life in a house fire on Cator Lane.
Emergency Crews Rush to Scene
Shortly after midday on 10 July 2022, emergency services were called to Cator Lane following reports of a blaze. Firefighters battled the flames while police secured the area. The road was closed during the operation but has since reopened.
Investigation Underway
A joint fire and police investigation is now underway to pinpoint the exact cause of the fire. Detective Sergeant Katie Hurrell of Nottinghamshire Police said:
“These are tragic circumstances. My thoughts are with the woman’s family at this extremely sad and difficult time.”
No Suspicious Circumstances so Far
Officers are keeping an open mind about the cause but have found no signs of foul play at this stage. The community remains shaken as they await answers.
