Lockdown Pup Shadow Hunts Forever Home
Shadow, a three-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier cross, arrived at the RSPCA Newport Centre on 24 March from Cwmbran. Underweight and in need of care, Shadow’s health has bounced back thanks to the centre’s dedicated team.
Behaviour Challenges but a Heart of Gold
Shadow is currently on a behaviour plan because he has a habit of jumping up at people. The centre is looking for a patient new owner willing to stick with the training and help him settle into a loving home.
“Shadow is our lockdown pooch. He came to us on the very first day of Wales’ national lockdown,” said Kath Logan from Newport Animal Centre. “He’s had a tough start, but there’s no doubt he’s a handsome, wonderful dog. The perfect owner is out there — someone ready to work with his behaviour plan and bring out his playful side.”
Adoptober Appeal: Find Your Perfect Match
The plea for Shadow’s new family comes as the RSPCA celebrates Adoptober, showcasing the many fantastic rescue dogs waiting across England and Wales. Staff at Newport urge locals to consider giving Shadow a fresh start in his home city.
Local Restrictions Affect Rehoming
Due to new coronavirus lockdown rules, only people living within Newport city council area can book appointments to meet and adopt. This is to prevent unnecessary travel amid ongoing restrictions.
Kath Logan added: “Anyone interested in Shadow can contact us on 0300 123 0744 or email [email protected]. We’re confident his perfect home is right here in Newport, and we hope he can end 2020 in a forever home full of love.”
