Dog and Owner in Peril as Major Rescue Unfolds Off Peacehaven
A frantic rescue operation is underway off the coast of Peacehaven, East Sussex, after a dog and its owner got into serious trouble in the water.
Coastguard and Lifeboat Launch Dramatic Sea Rescue
HM Coastguard scrambled a helicopter and Brighton lifeboat this evening (Tuesday) to the scene near Malines Avenue. Rescue teams from Coastguard Rescue 163 in Lydd and Brighton lifeboat battled choppy seas, launching at around 6pm.
The helicopter hovered overhead, lowering a winch line with a paramedic to assist in the ongoing struggle.
Heroic Rescues and CPR Save One Life – Others Escape
One person was pulled from the water by a brave member of the public and the coastguard team. Two others, including a surfer and an associate, managed to self-rescue.
Emergency crews from Newhaven Coastguard performed continuous CPR on the critical victim, who is now fighting for their life.
Air Ambulance Called as Lifeboat Returns to Station
The Brighton lifeboat has been stood down and is heading back to base. An air ambulance touched down nearby to provide urgent medical aid.
A Sussex Police spokesperson confirmed: “Emergency services responded to a report of a woman pulled from the sea off South Coast Road, Peacehaven, at about 6pm. She was treated at the scene and taken by ambulance in serious condition to Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton.
