Drug-Driving Arrest Shakes Whitstable Patrol
Kent Police officers launched a blitz across Canterbury city centre, Herne Bay, and Whitstable on Monday, March 14, 2022. The crackdown by the Community Policing Team and Kent’s Road Safety Unit led to a 20-year-old woman’s arrest for suspected drug driving after a police motorcycle stopped her in Whitstable. She’s now released under investigation as inquiries go on.
Speed Thrills in Herne Bay Slammed
Over in Herne Bay, reckless motorists didn’t escape notice. Two drivers blasted past the speed limit at over 40mph in a 30mph zone, earning themselves Traffic Offence Reports.
Moped and E-Scooter Riders Warned in Canterbury
Canterbury city centre saw officers clamp down on about 20 riders of mopeds, e-scooters, and bicycles. They were told to steer clear of the area, where riding isn’t allowed.
Police Crackdown to Protect Residents
Sergeant Lee Thompson of Canterbury Community Policing Team said:
“Kent Police is aware of the frustration dangerous and nuisance drivers cause for residents in the district. It is every motorist’s duty to ensure they drive in a way that does not impact on others, but we will continue to carry out operations like this one to remind drivers of that responsibility.”
