Couple Arrested After String of Calverton Shop Thefts
Police swooped on a man and woman linked to six separate shoplifting sprees in Calverton. The crimes netted hundreds of pounds worth of stolen meat and laundry products.
Co-op Stores Hit Multiple Times
Most thefts targeted the Co-op on Collyer Road, hit twice within just hours on 19 February. That same day, a thief tried to walk out of Sainsbury’s in Wilfrids Square with a bag full of goods — but fled empty-handed.
Suspects Nabbed in Early Morning Raids
Gedling’s Operation Reacher and Calverton beat teams identified the suspects and raided two nearby homes. The 35-year-old woman and 49-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of shop theft.
Police Plea: Help Us Stamp Out Shoplifting
Sergeant James Carrington of Nottinghamshire Police said:
“Shop thefts like this blight the community and hit livelihoods hard. We’re proud to back Arnold neighbourhood officers in these arrests.
“PC Abigail Green and her team have done great work identifying suspects and cracking down on crime in Calverton. We ask locals to report any suspicious activity on 101 so we can stop offenders in their tracks.”
