Eight-foot Gary the Gorilla Stolen from Scottish Nursery – Spotted Tied to Caravan on M25

Gary the Gorilla Nabbed in Dead of Night

Gary the Gorilla, a towering 8ft fibreglass statue, vanished from Reynard Nursery in Carluke last month. CCTV captured a car pulling up at 10:30pm on March 19. The occupants swiftly unbolted Gary, whisking him away in a van almost two hours later.

Motorway Sighting Sparks Hope

On Thursday, nursery owner Andrew Scott received jaw-dropping photos showing a gorilla matching Gary’s description tied to a caravan spotted on the M25 and M40 near Warwick. The initial snap lacked a registration plate, but more pics soon flooded in, revealing critical details.

“The person who took it had no idea what it was; they just thought it was a funny photo of a gorilla on the highway,” Andrew said.

“But then the jungle drums kept beating, and more people sent in photos showing the vehicle’s registration plate.”

Police Scotland on the Case

Police Scotland confirmed they’re investigating the sightings and have visited Andrew at the garden centre. Officers are keen to confirm whether the giant gorilla in the pics is indeed Gary.

“The police wanted to know how I could identify him; we need to rule out whether it’s Gary or not,” Andrew explained. “I gave them info on the Irish company that supplies them. There aren’t many like him, but Gary will have a few brothers out there.”

Gary, the Garden Centre Guide, Still Missing

Gary wasn’t just a giant ornament; he acted as a guide for visitors and even donned festive costumes. During the pandemic, he famously sported a face mask. Now, the giant gorilla remains missing, and Police Scotland urge anyone with information to come forward.
