Sham ‘Cop’ Duos Swipe Cash from Elderly Victim in Station Road Scam
An 80-year-old was duped out of his money by a bogus police officer and a woman who sweet-talked their way into his Station Road home last Saturday evening.
Fake Cop’s Clever Ruse
Between 5pm and 5.20pm on 8 January 2022, the white male suspect, described as large-built with medium-length black hair, an oval face, and wearing a white t-shirt, claimed he needed to seize cash linked to a counterfeit investigation.
Standing around six feet tall and in his late 40s, he persuaded the victim to hand over his money before the pair quickly left.
The victim soon realised it was a scam and reported the incident to Kent Police.
Same Victim Targeted Twice
The crook isn’t new to this victim. Back in October 2021, the same man posed as a worker and asked to enter the home to catch a bird flying inside.
He then scoured the property, spotting supposed water damage in the victim’s office.
Claiming he’d fix it for £600, the conman pressured the victim into paying, who withdrew the cash from a safe.
Police have linked both crimes and are hunting for the pair.
