Woman Found Dead in Alton Home – Man Arrested
Police were called to a Spitalhatch home at 2.51pm on Sunday, August 1, after the body of a woman was found. The cause of death remains unknown as the post mortem results are inconclusive. A full investigation is underway.
Man Held Over Murder Suspicion
A 59-year-old man from Alton has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He is currently in custody while police continue their inquiries. Formal identification of the woman is pending, but her next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Kate Gunson said: “This investigation is in its early stages, and we ask that anyone with information make contact with us.”
