Italian Tourist Killed in Beachside Car Rampage
The victim, Alessandro Parini, was confirmed dead by Italy’s foreign minister. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni slammed the attack as “cowardly” and expressed her “deep sorrow.”
Driver Mows Down Pedestrians Before Being Shot
Police say a 45-year-old man drove a Kia along a busy beach boardwalk, crashing into multiple pedestrians. The car then flipped over on the lawn near Charles Clore Garden. A nearby police officer heard the chaos and rushed over. He saw the driver reaching for what looked like a rifle and shot him dead to stop the threat.
All victims, except the attacker, were tourists. Three suffered moderate injuries, while four had minor wounds. Dramatic footage showed the overturned vehicle and an Israeli officer reacting swiftly at the scene.
Tensions Flare as Violence Rocks Region
The stabbing rampage came just hours after two British-Israeli sisters were killed and their mother seriously wounded in a West Bank shooting. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu quickly mobilised police and army reservists to tackle rising terrorism fears and personally visited the shooting site.
Violence has surged amid recent Israeli police raids at Jerusalem’s al-Aqsa mosque, sparking fierce clashes with Palestinian worshippers and widespread outrage. The fragile situation worsened after 34 rockets were fired from Lebanon into northern Israel—the biggest rocket barrage in 17 years.
Israel responded with air strikes targeting Hamas positions in southern Lebanon and Gaza. Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh warned Palestinians won’t “sit with their arms crossed” amid Israeli aggression, though no group has officially claimed responsibility for the rocket attacks.
