Police are hunting witnesses after a dramatic accident involving a rare 1915 black Ford left two men badly hurt in Maresfield.
Classic Car Overturns at Batts Bridge Roundabout
Just after 8.40am on Wednesday, July 23, emergency crews rushed to the A272 at Batts Bridge Roundabout following reports of a single-vehicle crash. The vintage Ford, heading eastbound, lost control as it entered the roundabout and flipped over, with no other cars involved.
Driver and Passenger Hospitalised with Serious Injuries
- The 83-year-old driver from Middlesex suffered potentially life-changing injuries and was rushed to hospital.
- His 69-year-old passenger from East Sussex also sustained serious wounds and is receiving urgent medical care.
Sussex Police Launch Full Investigation
Sussex Police have opened a full probe into the incident. They urged anyone who saw the black 1915 Ford before or during the crash to come forward.
“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, or who saw the black 1915 Ford in the moments before the incident, to get in touch. We are particularly interested in any relevant dash cam, CCTV, or mobile phone footage.”
