Armed police and air support swarm Bembridge Village on the Isle of Wight tonight following a reported incident.

Armed Police Deployed to Bembridge

Shortly before 9pm on Saturday, a National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter from Bournemouth touched down on the Isle of Wight. Officers, including armed response units from Hampshire and Isle of Wight forces, rushed to the area near the Crab and Lobster pub, responding to an isolated but serious incident.

Multiple Locations Targeted

Police with a dog unit and two vans attended Howgate/Egerton Road and a property in Beachfield Road. The activity followed a disturbance at the Welcome Cooperative convenience store in Lane End.

Witnesses Tight-Lipped

A staff member at the Coop confirmed “an incident” had occurred but declined to give details. The store manager is reportedly cooperating with Hampshire Police as investigations continue.

Armed units from the mainland joined Isle of Wight officers to secure the scene. Hampshire Police have been approached for a full statement.
