Woman Pushed to Ground in Brazen Tunbridge Wells Bag Snatch Attempt
Detectives are hunting for a man who shoved a woman to the floor during a failed robbery on a busy Tunbridge Wells street. The shocking incident unfolded just after 7am on Saturday, 18 December 2021, as the victim walked along the A267 Frant Road near The Pantiles.
Struggle on Frant Road as Victim Fights Off Attacker
The 30-something woman was suddenly pushed from behind close to the Warwick Park junction. The assailant forced her to the ground and tried to snatch her handbag. But she fought back fiercely and fled into The Pantiles, screaming for help.
“Thankfully the woman didn’t suffer any serious injuries and the offender ran back up the hill empty-handed,” said Detective Constable Hayley Campbell of West Kent CID.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and CCTV Footage
Detectives are urging anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious to come forward. They’re especially keen for local residents to check doorbell cameras and private CCTV that might have captured the struggle.
Suspect Description
- Around 5ft 7in tall
- Medium build with notably hairy hands
- Wearing black Nike tracksuit bottoms and a black hooded top with two stripes down each arm
- Black beanie-style hat
- White trainers and a red t-shirt
