Baby Mauled by Staffordshire Bull Terrier in Waterlooville
A terrifying attack unfolded in Waterlooville as an 18-month-old baby was mauled by a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon in Tennyson Crescent, sending shockwaves through the neighbourhood.
Emergency Services Rush to the Scene
Police and paramedics were called just after 4.30pm. South Central Ambulance Service confirmed they treated the baby’s hand injuries on site before rushing the child to QA Hospital in Cosham for further care.
Baby’s Injuries Not Life-Threatening
Thankfully, the toddler is not believed to have suffered any life-changing injuries despite the vicious attack. The quick response from emergency teams was crucial in ensuring the baby’s safety.
Investigation Underway
Hampshire Constabulary have launched an investigation to uncover exactly how the attack happened. Officers are working to piece together the events that led to the dog biting the child in a quiet residential street.
South Central Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Police contacted us to say a child had been attacked by a neighbour’s dog in Tennyson Crescent. We sent an ambulance with paramedics who treated injuries to the child’s hands. The child was then taken to QA Hospital for further treatment.”
