Police Hunt Man Over Hospital Chaos and Online Abuse

Police are urgently searching for 45-year-old Tobe Hayden Leigh from Maidstone, Kent. He’s wanted after causing a ruckus at East Surrey Hospital last Thursday, 21 January, and for hurling abuse at NHS staff online.

Maskless Mob Stormed Critical Care Ward

The trouble started when a group, including several without masks, barged into the hospital’s critical care ward to see a relative. Staff stepped in and asked them to leave. Instead of complying, they got abusive and refused to budge.

  • Officers arrived and slapped fines on two rule-breakers for breaching Covid restrictions.
  • A breach of the peace warning forced the group to finally leave.

Social Media Storm of Abuse

Tobe Hayden Leigh later posted videos and hateful comments targeting hospital staff online. Detective Chief Inspector Kimball Edey slammed the behaviour, saying:

“These abusive and threatening comments are extremely concerning and causing serious distress to dedicated NHS staff.”

“Our hospital workers are battling to care for the seriously ill under tough conditions. Being abused online is simply unacceptable.”

Health Risk Forces Urgent Appeal

Det Chief Insp Edey added Leigh poses a public health risk. He came dangerously close to a critically ill Covid patient and may have caught the virus himself.

Police urge anyone with information to come forward immediately. Help us track down Tobe Hayden Leigh and hold him to account.
