Blazing Raid Uncovers Cannabis Farm in Dagenham

A blazing fire at a terraced house in Dagenham has revealed a hidden cannabis farm, leaving police scrambling to find those responsible.

Massive Fire on Comyns Road

The inferno broke out at around 5:15pm on Sunday, 25 May, at a property on Comyns Road. Four fire engines and 25 firefighters rushed to the scene, battling flames that seriously damaged the ground floor and part of the first floor.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) got the blaze under control by 6:41pm.

Cannabis Plants Seized After Fire

Once the fire was out, firefighters alerted the Met Police, who swooped in and seized a haul of cannabis plants from the property.

A Met Police spokesperson confirmed:

“On Sunday, 25 May at 17:27hrs the Met was alerted by the London Fire Brigade to a fire on Comyns Road, Dagenham. After the fire was contained, officers seized a number of cannabis plants. There were no reports of any injuries. No arrests have been made at this stage.”

Police are urging anyone with info to call 101, quoting CAD 5567/25MAY.

Rapid Response, No Injuries

Crews from Dagenham, Barking, and Greenwich raced to the scene after multiple 999 calls. They brought the fire under control within 90 minutes.

LFB reported:

“Most of the ground floor and a small part of the first floor were damaged by the fire. There were no injuries reported.”

The official cause of the fire remains “undetermined.”
