£180k Cash Seized at UK Border as Four Arrested in Money Laundering Probe
Convoy Stopped at Border Control
Four vehicles travelling together were stopped at outbound border controls on the morning of Thursday, 24 June 2021, at around 8:50am. UK Border Force officers uncovered a massive haul of cash during the search.
£180,000 Found Hidden in Cars
The drivers initially declared £30,000. But a thorough search revealed an additional £150,000 stashed in various spots across two of the vehicles. Kent Police’s border unit swooped in and seized the money under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
Four Arrested on Suspicion of Money Laundering
Two men aged 53 and 32, and two others aged 49 and 25, all from the same area, were arrested on suspicion of money laundering. They were later released on bail, pending further investigations.
