Child Exploitation Probe Launched After Raids Rock Portsmouth
Police launched a major crackdown on Tuesday 21 August, carrying out multiple raids across Portsmouth and Havant. The swoops are part of a sprawling investigation into the criminal and sexual exploitation of teenagers in Portsmouth.
Victims Identified and Supported
Several victims have been identified and are now receiving support from the local council, police, and partner agencies. Portsmouth District Commander Superintendent Maggie Blyth said:
“This investigation involves specialist teams across the force and it will take us some time to understand the details. Gathering information from victims is a delicate process and they are being supported through this. This support will be ongoing. We are taking a strong partnership approach to this investigation which will continue.”
“We encourage anyone who thinks they can help to get in touch, either with us or through a trusted social or support worker. We are working closely with the community, and anyone with concerns can contact their local Neighbourhood Policing team.”
