Christmas tree stolen from North Walsham town square – later found dumped and damaged!

North Walsham residents woke up to a festive shock this Sunday when their beloved community-funded Christmas tree vanished from the centre of town.

Town left stunned as tree vanishes overnight

The gorgeous tree, proudly standing under the historic Market Cross and decorated by local nursery children, was reported stolen. Mayor Bob Wright slammed the “disappointing” act, highlighting that not everyone shares the true spirit of Christmas.

“Last month, the town council provided a Christmas tree for everyone to enjoy,” said Mr Wright. “As well as our own decorations, kids from the local nursery added their touch. Everyone here was very shocked to find that it was stolen last night.”

Tree found damaged and dumped nearby

Later on Sunday afternoon, the missing tree was discovered damaged and discarded a short distance away – adding insult to injury for the tight-knit Norfolk community.

Police join hunt for festive vandal

CCTV footage capturing the theft has been handed over to Norfolk Police who are now investigating the brazen Christmas crime. Authorities have been contacted for comment, and residents await justice.

The festive season is supposed to bring goodwill – but this naughty thief clearly missed the memo!
