Couple Lose Home in Devastating Camberley Conservatory Blaze

A couple in Camberley have been left homeless after a fierce fire engulfed their house in the early hours of the morning. Flames tore through the conservatory and quickly spread, sparking a huge emergency response and closing off Park Road.

Firefighters Battle Intense Blaze Through the Night

The alarm was raised just after 1am when fire broke out in the conservatory of the property on Park Road. Six fire engines from Surrey and Hampshire rushed to the scene, deploying 40 firefighters to tackle the roaring inferno. A specialist aerial ladder platform was also brought in to reach the upper floors.

The fire rapidly spread to the eaves and gutted much of the first floor and roof. Crews worked tirelessly through the night to prevent the blaze from jumping to a nearby home where a mother and her three children were inside.

Rescue Drama as Couple and Dogs Saved

Firefighters in breathing apparatus rescued the couple, both in their fifties, and their two dogs. The animals are now being cared for by neighbours while the owners stay at a friend’s house. Paramedics checked the couple at the scene.

The nearby family were left shaken but unharmed. The mother said:

“I woke up to loud cracking noises and smoke – my throat burned. I grabbed my children straightaway in my nightclothes, worried we wouldn’t get out. The fire engines arrived so quickly and worked hard to stop the fire spreading. I’m just glad no one was badly hurt.”

Road Closures and Ongoing Investigation

Police blocked off the road at both ends, waking many residents as the fire raged. Fire crews stayed on site overnight to hunt for hotspots and assess the damage. The house was declared uninhabitable after the blaze.

The quick and coordinated response by Surrey Fire & Rescue and Hampshire teams prevented the fire from causing even greater devastation.
