Woman Targeted by Fake Taxi Driver in Wilmslow Park Attack

Police were scrambled just before 11.15pm after a woman reported an attempted sexual assault in Platt Fields Park, Wilmslow Road.

Attack in Park – Suspect Fled Into Nearby Streets

The victim said she was approached by a man pretending to be a taxi driver. He followed her before dragging her into some bushes. Thankfully, the woman raised the alarm to passing strangers. The suspect then fled towards Yew Tree Road. Officers are hunting for the attacker.

Police Description and Appeal

The suspect is described as an Asian male, around 30 years old, with short dark cropped hair, a full dark beard, and wearing a black coat.

Detective Chief Inspector Anthony Norman said: “This was a horrific attack on a woman who thankfully managed to raise the alarm but has been left extremely shook up and is receiving the support she needs. No woman should have such an incident happen to them and all women should feel safe. Violence against women and girls is one of GMP’s top priorities.”

He added: “We have a team pursuing every lead and are urging anyone with information or who saw this man to come forward. We want to bring this man to justice.”
