Shocking attack in bar toilet as man targets 16-year-old girl
Horrific assault at OMG bar, Victoria Street
On the evening of Monday 3rd April, a man allegedly unlocked a toilet cubicle door at OMG bar on Victoria Street and raped a 16-year-old girl inside. The victim was left deeply distressed.
Good Samaritan steps in
After the attack, the suspect walked away. An unknown woman then came to the girl’s aid, providing crucial help in a terrifying moment.
Police hunt suspect with CCTV images
Detectives have carried out extensive CCTV and witness enquiries. They have now released CCTV images of a man believed to hold vital information in the investigation.
“This was an absolute abhorrent attack on a vulnerable teenage girl,” said Detective Inspector Leanne Toole. “Incidents like this are rare, but we’re working hard to catch the offender and bring him to justice.”
“We are appealing to the man in these images, or anyone who recognises him, to come forward. You may have vital information to help our enquiries.”
“We’re also urging the woman who helped the victim in the cubicle to get in touch as soon as possible.”
“If you have experienced sexual assault, please report it. We are here to support you fully and handle your case sensitively.”
