Man Critically Injured in Southampton Road Shooting
Police were called to Southampton Road at around 7.20pm on Saturday, October 15, after a man was found with a serious head injury. He was rushed to hospital, where doctors confirmed he had been shot. The victim remains in critical condition.
Heavy Police Presence and Investigation Underway
Authorities have set up a cordon around Southampton Road and Euston Road as they investigate the shocking shooting. High-visibility patrols are actively sweeping the area to reassure residents and gather information.
Officers are conducting house-to-house enquiries and urging locals to report any suspicious activity. Detective Inspector Simon Barnes said: “Thankfully, incidents like this are exceptionally rare in Northamptonshire, but when they do happen, they have a huge impact on the community.”
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detectives want to hear from anyone who saw the shooting or noticed anyone acting strangely or running from the scene around 7.20pm BST. DI Barnes added:
“The victim’s family is being supported by a specialist-trained officer. We are working closely with the community to find those responsible and bring them to justice. Our investigation is moving fast, and we urge anyone with any information, no matter how small, to come forward.
“Even small details could prove vital. We’d rather receive information that turns out not to be relevant than miss out on any lead at all.”
