Cold Case Rape Investigation Reopens: Police Hunt Asian Male Suspect
Detectives are urgently appealing for help to catch a man who raped a woman near Willesden Green library back in 2005. The attack happened on the evening of Saturday, 9 August, when a Japanese student in her 20s was walking home.
Victim Chased and Attacked in Secluded Garden
Shortly before 9pm, the victim had just left Willesden Green tube station. As she walked along Grange Road, an Asian male approached her, touched her shoulder, and spoke to her. Terrified, she ran towards Chambers Lane.
But the man gave chase. He caught up, dragged her into the garden of an empty house, and raped her before fleeing. The direction he escaped in remains unknown.
Suspect Description and New E-Fit Released
- Asian male, early 20s
- Slim build, short black gelled hair, clean-shaven
- Wearing black shirt and black trousers
Detective Constable Anthony Stanton from the North West Safeguarding team said: “We’re renewing the appeal with a fresh e-fit. We believe he may be known as Ambi or Nagma and might have worked at a Willesden supermarket back then.”
He added that the victim’s clothes were stained with red berry juice at the scene — a stain likely on the attacker’s clothes too.
Police Hold DNA Profile but Need Public’s Help
The force has the attacker’s DNA profile, but it hasn’t cracked his identity yet. DC Stanton urged anyone with information to come forward immediately.
“If you have any details or think you know who this man is, please contact me,” he said.
