Midnight Mugging Attempt in Newport – Police Hunt Two Suspects
Police are on the lookout for two men involved in a robbery attempt in Newport just after midnight on Thursday 23 March.
Victim Attacked After Leaving Local Pub
A man in his 50s was walking from the Wheatsheaf Pub on Pyle Street towards St James Street when he encountered the two suspects near the road junction.
One of the men demanded the victim’s phone and then followed him, delivering a punch to the face between Santander and Pittis estate agents.
The victim refused to hand over his phone, was threatened with further violence, and punched again. The attackers fled towards the 123.
