Dog Rampage Kills Eight Lambs in Shocking Attacks Across Sussex
Double Trouble for Veterinarian on Sheep Attack Night
A vet from Fairfield House Vets in Uckfield faced a grim night on Thursday 4th May 2023. Called to Castle Hill, Crowborough, the vet discovered a savage dog attack that left eight lambs and ewes dead. One ewe suffered injuries so severe she had to be put down. Several other sheep were badly wounded, needing stitches and urgent care.
But that was just the start. Earlier the same evening, the same vet had already responded to another attack in Little Horsted. Two brutal incidents in one night have shocked the farming community and raised alarm over dog control.
Farmers and Vets Warn: Keep Dogs Locked Down This Lambing Season
Fairfield House Vets are sounding the alarm. “Dog owners must be responsible,” they warn. With ewes out with their newborn lambs, now is the critical time to keep dogs on leads and away from private farmland.
- Dogs must be kept under control at all times
- Always keep dogs on leads near livestock
- Never allow dogs to wander onto private farms
These tragic attacks underline the devastating consequences when dogs run loose. The vets urge owners to prevent further heartbreak and protect vulnerable farm animals this season.
