Royal Marines Reserve Scores Two New Honorary Colonels
At the Commando Training Centre in Lympstone near Exeter, two new Honorary Colonels were named as they watched recruits sweat it out. Their mission? To bring fresh expertise and insight to the Royal Marines Reserve.
From Olympic Glory to Arctic Exploration
Victoria, a double Olympic medallist, knows all about physical and mental grit. Her intense training regime mirrors the demands faced by Royal Marines. Meanwhile, Dwayne Fields is no stranger to tough challenges either – an Arctic explorer with a passion for inspiring inner-city youth to connect with nature.
General Gwyn Jenkins, Commandant General of the Royal Marines, praised their appointments. “Dwayne will be an incredible ambassador for the UK’s Arctic warfare specialists. His knowledge and passion will strengthen our reach and capabilities.”
A Force for Good and Community Connection
Both honorary colonels will act as strong advocates for the Royal Navy and Marines. They’re set to provide discreet counsel to senior leaders while spreading the message that the Service is a force for good worldwide.
“I’ve always respected the values, mindset and spirit of the Royal Marines, that ‘strive to improve and inspire’ attitude and its approach to respecting others.”
Dwayne Fields
Victoria’s elite sporting background and Dwayne’s youth outreach and exploration expertise promise to boost the Corps’ training and community links.
