Drunken Brit Tries Opening Plane Door Mid-Flight on easyJet Trip

A 28-year-old British tourist sparked chaos on an easyJet flight from London Gatwick to Alicante-Elche airport by trying to open a cabin door mid-air. Luke A. was arrested on arrival after his wild behaviour forced passengers and crew to restrain him.

Intoxicated Passenger Turns Rowdy

Luke boarded the flight already drunk, which only worsened with altitude. He started by verbally abusing fellow travellers. Things escalated quickly as he attacked passengers and even tried to punch cabin crew who tried to calm him down.

The situation hit a dangerous peak when he attempted to open a door, mistakenly believing the plane was still on the ground. Passengers helped subdue him until the easyJet captain informed Alicante-Elche air control.

Airport Police Step In

Once the plane landed, Spanish Guardia Civil officers arrested Luke immediately. Authorities confirmed the incident amid rising concerns over disruptive passenger behaviour, especially involving Brits heading to Spain.

easyJet Responds

“Our cabin crew are trained to quickly handle any situation to keep everyone safe,” said an easyJet spokeswoman. “Abusive or threatening behaviour is not tolerated. The safety of passengers and crew is our top priority.”

Spain Sees Rising Passenger Conflicts

Airport operator Aena revealed Alicante recorded 184 passenger conflicts last year—second highest in Spain. Excessive alcohol consumption is often to blame for these disturbances, mirroring the latest scandalous flight episode.
